Membership We are always looking for new members, aged 18 and over, to join us: if you can sing, act and dance we would love to welcome you to join our friendly society. Contact us at membership@shenfieldoperaticsociety.co.uk for more details Auditions All performing members are required to audition to join the society. We have all been through this process and know how  nerve wracking it can be, so we try and make these as informal as possible. You will be asked to sing a short song of your  choice and you may be asked to read a short piece of dialogue. If you wish to be considered for a principal role in any of our shows, you will also be required to audition for this. However, if  you just want to be in the chorus then, once you have passed the society audition, you will not need to audition again. Shows We produce two shows a year; our main show at the Queen’s Theatre Hornchurch in Ferbruary and a smaller show in June or  July at either the Brentwood Theatre or at a local village hall. Cast members will need a script/score for these shows; we will  provide these, but you will be asked for a refundable deposit. Rehearsals  Rehearsals are on Wednesday and Friday evenings from 7.45pm to 10.15pm plus one Sunday a month from 1pm to 5pm. You  may not be required at all rehearsals and you will be issued with a rehearsal schedule at the beginning of each production so  that you know when you are required.  We always aim to produce professional quality productions and this can be quite challenging but we are a very enthusiastic  group and we try to have fun at rehearsals. When you join our society, you will become part of the SOS family all of whom  share the same passion for performing.  Social We enjoy meeting for a variety of social gatherings outside of rehearsals; quizzes, meals out, dances and BBQs to name but a few of our recent events. A number of the cast members go to a local pub after rehearsals on Friday nights. Backstage  If performing isn't for you, we are always in need of extra hands backstage to ensure that our shows are as professional as  possible and that everything runs smoothly. There are lots of opportunities to get involved; artistic director, musical director,  stage manager, scenery, props, costumes, backstage crew, publicity, promotions, box office. If you are interested in helping in any of these areas, get in touch to find out more Friends If you would love to get involved with the society but don’t want to be on stage or behind the scenes, then you can become a  ‘friend’ of the society. See our membershp section for information.  Support Us The best way you can support us is by coming to see our shows. For tickets contact Suzanne on 07734 817418 or email her  at boxoffice@shenfieldoperaticsociety.co.uk We also have space in our show programmes for local businesses to support the society.
